Based on the identified in the State Archives of Lviv Region and Archives of the University of Vienna documents and materials, the anthor has reconstructed the important stage of becoming a professional of Ukrainian Soviet philosopher Volodymyr Yurynets (1890— 1937), which is associated with his student years. As found out by the author, studying in Lviv (1908—1910) and Vienna (1910—1913) universities Yurynets obtained natural science and humanitarian (primarily — philosophic) education in the creative atmosphere of powerful scientific and educational centers, new discoveries, theoretical searches, fierce debates. His teachers and mentors were such outstanding scientists and teachers, as K. Twar- dowski, J. Lukasiewicz, J. Puzyna, M. Hrushevskyi, F. Hasenöhrl, E. Schrödinger, F. Mertens, F. Jodl, V. Jerusalem, A. Adler et al. During the study V. Yurynets proved himself not only as a capable and diligent student, but also as a literary critic, poet, and social activist. Knowledge and professional skills gained by V Yurynets during his study not only contributed to his intellectual and cultural growth, but also defined the future of his scientific interests, which always belonged to philosophy, natural science and literature.
