This paper is devoted to the logical investigations in Kyiv (the 19th — early 20th centuries). The paper goal is, firstly, to analyze logic of both the scientific and academic discipline in Kyiv Theological Academy and St. Volodymyr University; secondly, to tell about representatives of Kyiv academic and university philosophy, who made their contribution to the development of logic. Some of them have sunk into oblivion for a long time and their names are still unknown in the logic community.
The issues discussed by representatives of Kyiv philosophers were in the mainstream of West European philosophy and logic of those times. In what way shall logic be reformed? In what way shall its subject matter be determined? Can logic be considered only as a formal discipline? What are the relationships between logic and psychology? Can psychology be considered the foundation of logic? What is the methodological significance of logic? Addressing these issues, Kyiv philosophers have created original conceptions of logic which are of interest not only from the point of view of the history of logic but also from the point of view of present-day tendencies of the logical knowledge development.
