The article investigates specificity of philosophy and the history of philosophy relation. The author attempts to define the concept of the historical-and-philosophical discourse, as well as to argue its differences from the philosophical texts. The phenomenon of historical- and-philosophical text ambivalence and paradoxes associated with its maintenance are characterized. The role of the history of philosophy education in the process of developing skills of philosophizing as the practice of independent free-thinking is analyzed.
